CGSA Fall Ball is just around the corner...

8U Fall Ball Registration

We are excited to announce that CGSA will be running an 8U Fall Ball program from September 10th - October 15th.  All 2009 and 2010 birth years are welcome. Girls did not have to play in CGSA last season to be eligible to participate. This program will be strictly developmental.  There will not be trophies or scores kept in games.  Practices during the week will be optional, and not run by CSGA.

8U Fall Ball will be a 6 week program running every Sunday morning for approximately 2 hours between 8:30 and 12:00.  It will consist of scrimmages, pitching, and skills clinics. Depending on our total number of players, we are aiming to have every girl placed on a team. The overall goal of the program is to develop and prepare this age group for the Spring season.

Each girl will get a t-shirt to wear, 2-3 clinics, and will play 4-5 games.  Rained out events will not be rescheduled and all events will be held at Mission Oaks Fields.  This is a pilot program so our ability to achieve what we are hoping to will be based on the overall enrollment.

Teams will be formed September 4th and requests will be looked at but not guaranteed. Jamey Shaver will be running this program and can be reached at jamey.shaver@erac.com with any questions.

Please go on the CGSA website and register your daughter and provide $50.00 registration payment under the 8U Fall Ball section.  We feel confident this program will be run properly and that everyone will benefit!  We look forward to seeing our 8U girls out on the fields soon!

Warmly,

CGSA Board of Directors

Friday Night Lights

Friday Night Lights (FNL) was organized to give girls the opportunity to play competitive softball after their Recreation League All Star season and the beginning of the Recreation League.  Games are played at Mission Oaks Park on Friday Evenings.  The season runs for 8-10 weeks (depending on weather) from the beginning of September and ending with a Halloween special evening.  There are no trophies or standings.  Games scores are kept for that evening then discarded.  We would rather put the trophy money back into the program and have a season ending Halloween event that benefits all the girls that participated.

Western District Recreation League Board Members – it is our sincere intention to give you an outlet to keep your better recreation players involved in your program for a longer period of time.  We call this ‘travel ball that supports recreation leagues’.  CGSA is making it a requirement (special circumstances excluded) for girls who compete in FNL to return to our recreation league in the spring.  We are hoping you can use this as a vehicle to keep your girls together longer but cannot make it a requirement for your teams.   It would be great to get all the tops teams from the Western District involved in FNL to continue our future success at USA SOFTBALL  STATES and NATIONALS.

Cost will not be more than $800 for the 8-10 weeks of play.  We have the fields for 10 weeks, but always have issues with some rain outs, so we will try to get as many games as possible.  Games are a full 7 innings or 1:30 minutes, Drop Dead.  We like the longer games to give you more reps for your girls.  We have extra expenses running the league under the lights and have to pay a bit more for umpires.  For those who participated last year we are planning a special Halloween give away and competition again this year.  It seemed to be a big hit with girls and coaches in years past.

Unfortunately we only have a limited number of spots available (12 teams total).  We are asking for TEAM INTEREST emails for 10u and 12u to be sent to our age group commissioners below.  These commissioners will submit their teams to the FNL Committee for approval.  We wish we could take all that register but remember our mission to keep this as competitive as possible for your league’s benefit.

Not all of Camarillo Girls Softball teams compete in FNL, they will go through the same selection process as your teams.   We will consider travel teams that do not support recreation play, if we cannot get enough high level recreation teams. FNL is geared for SELECT or GOLD caliber teams.

We are not planning on an 8U or 14u division at this time.

Please send an interest email for your team to our below league commissioners.  They will be your point of contact throughout the season:
